LIU, Henry, MD, graduated from Tongji Medical University in Wuhan in 1983 and a Master’s degree in Surgery in 1986, I served as an attending surgeon at Union Hospital of Tongji Medical University. Then I worked at Surgery Research Laboratory at University of Pennsylvania as a Research Scientist. After passing USMLE, I started my clinical practice by an internship in Surgery at Columbia University, residency in Anesthesiology at University of Maryland and fellowship in Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology at Emory University. Currently I practice anesthesia at Tulane University Medical Center as the Director of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesiology, Director of International Relations and Associate Director of Research. I am the past President of Chinese American Society of Anesthesiology (CASA, 2013) and former President of Tongji Medical University Overseas Alumni Association (TJMCOAA) in 2001 and 2010. My laboratory research interests include the effects of cardiac positive inotropes on gene expression of cardiomyocytes and clinical interests are myocardial protection and cerebral protection in cardiovascular surgery, and anesthesia safety and quality management.
