TEE Taskforce committee consultants

The 3rd annual visual technology in anesthesia/pain/critical care/emergency medicine meeting was held at West China Medical University in Chengdu on July 14-15, 2012.  At this meeting, the task force committee to develop “Basic training, practice and assessment of perioperative transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) guideline for Chinese Anesthesiologist” was formed.  Dr. Liu Jin, Chairman of the department of Anesthesiology at the West China Medical University and current president of CSA is leading the group.  Dr. Yong G Peng is invited as general consultant for the Taskforce committee. Dr. Liu hopes that there would be significant improvement in utilizing TEE intraoperative to care critical ill patient in China in the next 3-5 years.  Establishing TEE training center in China to teach anesthesiologist to obtain the basic knowledge and skill of TEE is an unprecedented project.  It certainly will improve the quality of patient care for anesthesiology in China.  Dr. Liu Jin and his colleagues, like Dr. Song Haibo and the others, have done tremendous pioneer work at West China Medical University.  They have not only started short-term training courses for multiple anesthesiologists in China (three months clinical training), but also established an excellent simulation center with their self-deigned TEE simulator.  To expand such training at the national level has been recently launched (form taskforce committee). In order to facilitate the steady progress of this project, Dr. Yong G Peng has coordinated with a group of cardiovascular anesthesiologists in the US who have expressed their enthusiasm to participate in this project as consultants and work with the taskforce committee in China to ensure the steady development of this project. The following faculty members have been submitted to TEE taskforce committee in China as the potential consultant for this project.
